CONSENT TO PARTICIPATE IN RESEARCH

Collaborative Ontology Building

You are asked to participate in a research project conducted by Russell Poldrack, Professor of Psychology and Neurobiology at the University of Texas at Austin. You were selected as a possible participant in this project because of your activity in visiting cognitive psychology research sites and status as a faculty, post-doc, or graduate scholar in a cognitive psychology-related field. Your participation in this research project is voluntary.

PURPOSE OF THE PROJECT

The purpose of this project is to develop a set of concepts and terminology that describes the field of cognitive psychology.

PROCEDURES

If you volunteer to participate in this project, we would ask you to participate by discussing and editing the documents found on this site.

POTENTIAL RISKS AND DISCOMFORTS

There are no foreseeable risks or discomforts.

POTENTIAL BENEFITS TO SUBJECTS AND/OR TO SOCIETY

You will not directly benefit from your participation in the research.

The results of the research may facilitate integration within the field of cognitive psychology as well as supporting related fields (such as attempts to localize cognitive processes to brain regions and networks).

PAYMENT FOR PARTICIPATION

You will receive no payment for your participation.

CONFIDENTIALITY

Any information that is obtained in connection with this project and that can be identified with you will remain confidential and will be disclosed only with your permission or as required by law.

This project is classified as human subjects research because your editing behavior may be analyzed for the purposes of better understanding how collaborative knowledge is developed. Any identifying information (including your username) will be removed prior to these analyses in order to ensure the privacy of participants. Data will be kept on a password protected server in a secure location and will be securely archived at the completion of this research so that they may be accessed later by the P.I.s, if necessary.

PARTICIPATION AND WITHDRAWAL

You can choose whether to be in this project or not. If you volunteer to be in this project, you may withdraw at any time without consequences of any kind.
