MSharman Removed the beginning of this definition, 'the condition of being uncertain', which is uninformative. What remains does not seem like it has much to to with 'Mental Constructs', and probably belongs in the 'Tasks' section. Another new definition has been created for 'Uncertainty (subjective)' which I feel addresses more the point of having a definition of uncertainty within a Cognitive Atlas

MLewis I'm not sure how useful the current definition is either in the context of Cognitive Atlas. I can think of examples of uncertainty, as when a person encounters a stimulus at the threshold of perception, but I don't quite know how to write up a fitting definition to this end.

RPoldrack I agree with MLewis here - the current defintion is not describing a psychological construct, but rather a statistical one. I think that when psychologists speak of "uncertainty" they necessarily mean "subjective uncertainty".

JClithero Would be nice to have more broad definitions here. Not sure if a separate "ambiguity" concept would be useful, but a lot of concepts could be considered "uncertain" (e.g., "delay")...
